Los solicitantes deberá decir cuál o cuáles usan e indicar “cómo se identificaron en esas plataformas en los cinco años anteriores a la solicitud” de visa“. “Otras preguntas piden los números telefónicos, direcciones de correo electrónico o viajes internacionales de los cinco años precedentes”, dice el aviso publicado en el Federal Register. Cuando esas reglas fueron sugeridas el año pasado como parte de lo que el presidente Donald Trump denomina un “extremado veto” de posibles visitantes, diversos voces se alzaron en defensa de la privacidad. Sin embargo, funcionarios alegaron que eso permite identificar potenciales extremistas. Pusieron como ejemplo que uno de los autores de un ataque en San Bernardino en 2015 tenía visa pese a que abogaba por la “yihad” en las redes sociales.
